JR Smith and the Cavaliers Reunites for a Four Year Contract

The long wait is finally over as the standoff between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the sharp shooting guard JR Smith finally ended after both parties agreed on a contract that Smith gamble during this 2016 free agency.


The source said that the Smith and the Cavs finally agreed on a contract that both parties made happy, Cavs give Smith a four year deal worth $57 million, where Smith is guaranteed of three straight seasons while his fourth year is non-guaranteed.



It is remembered that at the start of this 2016 NBA Free Agency Smith opted out his contact with the Cavs after a successful season of helping the team of winning the 2015-2016 NBA Champion. This time the gamble of Smith paid off after failing last year free agency where he opted out and failed and received lesser money that he already receiving.

Cavalier’s management decided to give what Smith is asking for his salary, this time they value Smith in bringing him back with the team reuniting their championship caliber starting five with Kyrie Irving, Tristan Thompson, Kevin Love and LeBron James.

Now that Smith is back and the team is whole again, the Cavalier’s chance of getting in the finals is more likely in a good direction. The team is still the best team in the Eastern Conference and the heavily favored of getting back in the NBA Finals alongside with the Western Conference counterpart Golden State Warriors.

JR Smith is a former six man of the year that he won during his tenure with the New York Knicks, he almost lost a contract with the Cavaliers after opting out during the 2015 free agency after losing the NBA Finals with the Warriors.

Just like his teammate Tristan Thompson, Smith has the same similar situation where both player standoff their demand of earning much more salary that they ask for and successfully given after a long term of negotiation.
