Lakers/Nets Opens 2021 NBA Preseason

NBA – On October 3, 2021 (US TIME) The Los Angeles Lakers host the visiting Brooklyn Nets for the opener of the 2021 NBA Preseason at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

The Arena was attended by many fans since the world pandemic happens and especially by the Lakers fans were they once again witness their newly formed roster at their house.

For the Nets, their superstar trio, former MVP Kevin Durant, former MVP James Harden and NBA Champion Kyrie Irving all sit out of the game. Also with the 6 – time NBA All – Star Blake Griffin is also out of the game.

Meanwhile, the Nets welcomed the return of LaMarcus Aldridge, who happened to play the game after a short retired due to health issue. Aldridge drop 6 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assist in 15 minutes of playing.

What is like for the NBA Post Season without LeBron James?

Clarkson, Fall Short On His Gilas Debut

Philippines – Jordan Clarkson is a Filipino-American NBA Player who is currently playing for Cleveland Cavaliers as a point guard and shooting guard. He was a late addition to the Gilas Pilipinas team roster after the National Basketball Association (NBA) change their decision to allow Clarkson to play in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia and as part of the Gilas Pilipnas basketball team.

James Harden Wins 1st MVP Award

NBA – 6× NBA All-Star and now the reigning league MVP the Houston Rockets superstar James Harden has won his first ever KIA MVP Award in the recently concluded 2nd NBA Annual Awards at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.

Warriors Win Game 1 of the 2018 NBA Finals in OT

NBA – The defending NBA Champion Golden State Warriors scape Game 1 in overtime in 124 – 114 win at home in Oracle, Arena in Oakland, California. Warriors outscored the Cavs in OT, 17 – 7 to take Game 1 and now leads the series 1 – 0. 

In the 1st quarter, both teams are shooting a high percentage in the field not allowing one another to pull away in the game, LeBron James and Stephen Curry leads their respective team in scoring to end the quarter with one point separations 30 – 29 Cavs by a point.

In the 2nd quarter, Cavs able to take the first double digit lead of the game while LeBron James is resting on the bench halfway through the quarter, but the Warriors slowly cut the Cavs lead and able to even the scores at the half with a buzzer beater made by Stephen Curry to tie the game at 56 - all in 16 – 5 run by the Warriors.

In the 3rd quarter, both teams had a seesaw battle, The Warriors had a quick start regaining the lead in a 10 – 3 run enjoying a 7 point advantage 66 -59 but LeBron James rallies back his team with his own 12 – 2 run to regain the Cavs lead 73 – 70 but the Warriors manage to hang on and regain the lead again in 7 – 0 run 82 – 75 and end the quarter up by 6 points 84 – 78.

In the 4th quarter, the Cavs and the Warriors are in tight contention and with 4.7 seconds to go, the game is tied, George Hill missed his second free throws shot that could give the Cavs lead, but either way his teammates JR Smith made a great offensive rebound but thought they are in the lead by 1 points and dribble out the ball that lead to over time.

In overtime, The Warriors dominated the Cavs by outscoring by 10 points 17 – 7 to easily win the game in OT 124 – 114.

Cavs Takes a Commanding 2 – 0 Lead Over the Raptors

NBA – The Toronto Raptors host the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 2 of their best of seven semi – final round of the 2018 NBA Playoffs at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario. The Raptors are trying to bounce back from a very disappointing loss in Game 1 after leading for almost the entire game but falls down in overtime. 

While the Cavs are looking to steal another game and take a commanding 2 – 0 lead in the series before going home in Cleveland.

In the 1st quarter, the Raptors start the game strong controlling most of the quarter just like in the first game, Kyle Lowry has been big for the Raptors leading his team in scoring while the Cavs led by Kevin Love has much better game today compare to Game 1, Raptors edge Cavs 29 – 26 as the quarter ends.

In the 2nd quarter, the Raptors up their lead into 9 points, but the Cavs made a mini run at the later parts of the quarter to cut the Raptors lead in just 2 points 63 – 61 at the half. Raptors guard Kyle Lowry continues his great start finishing the 1st half with 18 points, but already in foul trouble after committing his 3rd fouls. Kevin Love leads the Cavs in scoring with 18 points while LeBron James added 16 points.

In the 3rd quarter, Cavs starts the 2nd half strong taking an early mini run of 8 – 0 run to take the lead 69 – 63 up by 6 points. Cavs continue their hot start to post their first double digit lead of the game with 7:50 to go in the quarter. Kevin Love has been great for the Cavs in three quarters, but LeBron James has been huge in the quarter, dropping 15 points to lead the Cavs up by 15 points. Cavs able to outscored the Raptors 37 – 24 in the quarter to finish the 3rd 98 – 87 up by 11 points.

In the 4th quarter, Cavs lead balloons to 23 points, the Raptors has no answer on LeBron James hot games finishing with game high 43 points, 14 assist and 8 rebounds along with Kevin Love best game in the post season with 31 points and 11 rebounds.

Cavs takes Game 2, 128 – 110 and now had a commanding 2 – 0 lead in the series, stealing 2 games on the road and will have home court advantage in Games 3 and 4 in Cleveland.

Derrick Rose Reunites with Coach Tom Thibodeau

NBA – Point Guard Derrick Rose start the 2017 – 2018 NBA Season with a mission of rejuvenating his career after joining forces with LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in hopes of making his first NBA Finals appearance and NBA Championship?

At the beginning of the season, Rose became the Cavs starting point guard as a temporary

replacement to then injured Isaiah Thomas but again injury humbles Rose that sideline him for 2 months and eventually ended his future with the Cavaliers.

On February 8, 2018, Derrick Rose, along with Cavs team mates Iman Shumpert, Channing Frye, Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder and Dwyane Wade traded all together on the day of the NBA trade deadline. Rose was sent to Utah Jazz but waived 2 days after the trade.

Since Rose becomes a free agent only limited teams are showing interest of assuring him that lead to uncertainty on his NBA career, but his former Chicago Bulls Coach Tom Thibodeau shows interest of recruiting him to join forces once again in Minnesota? 

On March 8, 2018, The Timberwolves guaranteed Rose a contract for the rest of the season, reuniting with Coach Thibodeau and former Bulls team mates Taj Gibson and Jimmy Butler.

Rejuvenated Cleveland Cavaliers wins 4 in a Roll

NBA – The Oklahoma City Thunder host the new look and rejuvenated Cleveland Cavaliers in their final match this season at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Thunder has defeated the Cavaliers in their first meeting in good old fashion blown out win in Cleveland, Ohio.

Prior to the game, The Cavaliers are currently 3rd in the East Standing with 33 wins and 22 losses, while the Thunder is 5th in the Western Conference with 32 wins and 25 loss record.

The Cavs are on 3 - game winning streak and looks rejuvenated by the addition of new players, especially LeBron James, who seems energized and back to original form from being the best player in the league again while The Thunder is trying to extend their winning streak after defeating the Grizzlies last time out.

In the game, both teams came strong in the 1st quarter with several lead changes until the Cavaliers regained the lead in the final second of the early quarter 29 – 28 just up by 1 point. The re - energized LeBron James start strong in the game, leading the Cavs in scoring with 9 points.

In the 2nd quarter, the Cavs dominated most part of the quarter with a double digit lead, new Cavs bench player Jordan Clarkson, Rodney Hood and Larry Nance Jr. along with Jeff Green play big while James is resting on the bench.

For the Thunder center Steve Adams leads the Thunder in scoring at the half with 15 points and 7 rebounds keeping the Thunder at closed to the Cavaliers to finish the half just down by 5 points 62 – 57 Cavs by 5 points.

In the 3rd quarter, Cavs extend their lead again to double digit after their main man LeBron James gets hot scoring the last 15 points of the Cavaliers, but Melo and the Thunder had their own mini run to regain the lead 82 – 81 after Steve Adams made 3 out of 6 consecutive free throws but the Cavaliers still manage to finish the quarter up by 4 points 91 – 87.

In the 4th quarter, the new Cavs player, Clarkson, Hood and Nance join forces along with Green to up their lead back to double digit 100 – 89 with 8:27 to go while LeBron James is resting on the bench. When James return, still the Cavs bench players that are keeping the Thunder away from the game and eventually won their 4th straight game in a 120 – 112 win over the Thunder.

James finishes the game with a game high 37 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assist, JR Smith with another good shooting night finished with 18 points, Jeff Green with 10 points while the 4 new faces Clarkson, Hood, Nance and Gill added big with 14 points, 14 points, 13 points and 7 points respectively.

Warriors Swept the Regular Season Match against the Cavaliers in MLK Day

NBA – The defending NBA Champion Golden State Warriors dominated their NBA Finals rival Cleveland Cavaliers after beating them at their own house in a 118 – 108 win at Quickens Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.

The Warriors have now swept the 2017 – 2018 NBA Regular Season matches up to 2 – 0 record, one at home at Oracle Arena during Christmas day and the latest was at Quickens Loans Arena during MLK Day.

Both teams show competitive game showing a glimpse of what game played like it is already an NBA Finals, despite the 2 game wins by the Warriors, the Cavaliers especially LeBron James gave it all but the defending NBA Champion is too much to handle where they are clearly the much better team.

In the first meeting, the Warriors host the Cavaliers at home in Christmas Day celebration without their 2 – time MVP Stephen Curry who is nursing an injury, despite of that, it was a closed game not until the referee missed a foul that should have been called on Kevin Duran over LeBron James in the latter minutes of the final quarter that might change the outcome of the game if the foul was called? But then again it is not called that favors the Warriors to win the game.

The second meeting in MLK Day Celebration, again it was a great game it was a glimpse of what the game plays in the NBA Finals both teams is almost complete and healthy and star players for both teams are present and ready to play, the first 3 quarters are very competitive as no team is able to pull away in the game not until the Warriors dominated the final quarter and sealed the game.

Both LeBron James and Kevin Durant arise as the best player for both their team finishing the game with game high 32 points each.

The Warriors win improved their standing as the league best record with 36 wins and 9 losses, while the Cavaliers continues their losing skid to 4 straight losses, but still the 3rd best record in the East with 26 wins and 17 losses.

The Warriors/Cavs season match is over and the Warriors dominated the Cavaliers, is there any chance that these two team faces again comes playoff time? Or should we say the NBA Finals? The Warriors is almost lock in getting back In the Finals, but the Cavs is questionable? Let’s just wait and see on what will happen?

LeBron James Drops 39 Pts. In a Losing Effort against the Bucks

NBA – The Cleveland Cavaliers visit the Milwaukee Bucks for the last time at the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee. It is the 3rd time that these two teams are facing one another out of the four scheduled meetings these 2017 – 2018 NBA Season. The Cavaliers have a commanding 2 – 0 lead in their season match against the Bucks after winning the first 2 games one in October at The BMO Harris Bradley Center and the other one in November at Quickens Loans Arena.

In the game, the visiting team (Cavs) takes an early double digit of 11 points but the home team (Bucks) has rallied back to cut the lead to just 4 points to end the 1st quarter 34 – 30 Cavs leading by 4 points.

In the 2nd quarter the Bucks continue their assault on the Cavs second unit hitting some series of 3’s to overcome the Cavaliers lead and end the quarter leading by 11 points. A 22 point turn around 69 – 58 Bucks with 11 points.

In the 3rd quarter, the home team is still the aggressive team after carrying their momentum in the 2nd quarter, outscoring the visiting team 29 -25 to end the 3rd quarter leading by 15 points 98 – 83, Bucks with 15 points.

In the 4th quarter, where everyone thinks that the home team will walk away from the game in a blown out fashion after posting the biggest lead of the game by 20 points, but the Cavs second unit has a thing in their mind who came strong and show an impressive scoring and defensive stand in the final quarter leading by Jeff Green and Dwyane Wade, where they slowly chops the Bucks lead until the Cavs manage to regain the lead 107 - 105 after a made 3’s by Dwyane Wade with 5:11 to go in the final quarter.

LeBron was re-inserted in the game after the Bucks regain the lead 107 – 108 with under 4 minutes to go in the quarter, James quickly made some clutch 3’s and 3 point play to regain the lead for the Cavs, but unable to seal the game due to some missed 3’s by James and Kyle Korver and eventually Giannis Antetokounmpo made a clutch 3 point play that sealed the win for the Milwaukee Bucks.

LeBron James, finish the game with game high 39 points, 1 rebound, 7 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks in a losing effort while Bucks franchise player Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 27 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assist.

Boston Celtic’s Winning Streak Snapped by the Miami Heat

NBA – Dion Waiters and the Miami Heat ended the Boston Celtics 16 – game winning streak on their home at Americans Airlines Arena in Downtown Miami. Goran Dragic leads the Heat in scoring with 27 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assist but it was his teammate Dion Waiters who made the clutch 3’s and an easy dunk in the last few minutes of the 4th quarter to stop the Celtics winning streak.

Waiters added 26 points, 2 rebounds and 6 assist to help him team to get the win which also improves the Heats Standing with 8 wins and 9 losses and currently sitting at 11th place in the Eastern Conference Standings.

The Celtics has been trailing for most of the game down by as much as double digit lead not until they fought back in the 3rd quarter to close the gap, but unable to sustain in the 4th quarter until the Heats shooting guard Dion Waiters made some clutch basket in the end game to keep the Celtics away from the game. 

Kyrie Irving leads the Celtics in scoring with 23 points, 1 rebounds and 3 assist but not enough to help his team to keep their winning streak.

Irving’s teammate Jalen Brown, who has been great for the Celtics in their past games added only 14 points and was fouled in the game, rookie Jayson Tatum continues to show his impressive performances as a rookie added 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assist while Al Horford was only limited to a single digit points with 7 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assist.

The Celtics loss, stop them from reaching the franchise best record of 18 – game winning streak during the era of the “Celtic’s Big Three” Kevin Garnet, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce, despite the loss the Celtics remains the league’s best record with 16 wins and 3 loss, especially in the East, where the Celtics are 5 more wins against the 2nd and 3rd best record Detroit Piston and Toronto Raptors with 11 wins and 6 losses each and followed by the Cleveland Cavaliers at 4th place with 11 wins and 7 losses and currently holds the new longest winning streak in the league with 6 wins.
